Hundreds of
artisans, village elders and chiefs from six northwestern
provinces including Lao Cai, Yen Bai , Lai Chau, Son La,
Dien Bien and Hoa Binh attended the village festival "Colour
of spring in the northwest" held in Sapa district,
Lao Cai
province in two days.
Accounted for nearly 1/3 total area of the country with
about 10 million people including more than 20 ethnic
minority groups living together,
Northwest area is very rich
with traditional cultural identity. Therefore, the festival
"Colour of spring in the northwest" organized by Military
Post Telecommunication Group has introduced domestic and
international visitors an overall picture of the traditional
culture values through performing arts, realizing social
activities of people in Sapa and northwest in general,
hill
tribe markets, typical landscapes, costume performance, folk
games, local cuisine and especially tourists will have a
chance to experience telecom services served by Telecom Viettel. A special hill tribe market with local specialties
such as terraced rice, plum and corn wines, honey bee, Tam
That flower, dried buffalo meat, Shan Tuyet tea, pipe wine,
brocade, five coloured sticky rice, Thang Co soup...have
been vividly recreated with the activities of communal
culture exchange.
This is a major cultural activity with social meaning, to
introduce and honour traditional cultural values of ethnic
minority peoples in the region, strengthening solidarity and
attachment amongst Vietnamese ethnic communities.
Sapa town is located in the northwest mountainous area of
Vietnam, nearly 400 km from Hanoi capital, Sapa is perched
on an elevation 1200 to 1800 m above the sea level, the
highest peak is Fansipan summit at 3143 m. Famous as a
favourite destination in hot season Sapa has beautiful
scenery and cool fresh temperature, there are up to four
seasons in a day, spring in the morning, summer in the
afternoon, autumn in the late afternoon and winter when the
night falls. Sapa is inhabited by 6 minority groups are

companies in recent years have organized
tours to Sapa for
visitors from Vietnam and outside the country, with the new
highway from
Hanoi to Lao Cai being built the number of
tourists to Sapa is expected to increase in coming years |
